What Our BMW Rebuild Warranty Covers
An engine rebuild warranty is a workshop's guarantee covering the quality of workmanship and the components used during the rebuild. It is not an insurance product or a third-party extended warranty — it's our own commitment to the work we carry out.
All BMW engine rebuilds completed at BMW Garage include a 12-month unlimited-mileage warranty as standard. This is a fully inclusive guarantee, with no additional purchase required.

What does the 12-month warranty actually cover?+
Our warranty covers workmanship (assembly, machining) and components replaced during the rebuild. If a covered part fails or the workmanship proves defective within 12 months, we remedy it at no extra cost.
Is there a mileage limit?+
No — the warranty is unlimited mileage for the full 12-month term.
What does the warranty not cover?+
Consequential damage beyond the failed component itself, damage from neglect or misuse, modifications (e.g. aftermarket tuning), and normal wear-and-tear after the 12-month period. Pre-existing conditions not addressed during the rebuild are also excluded.
Do I need to follow a running-in procedure?+
Yes — proper running-in is essential for BMW engines, particularly those with tight tolerances (VANOS, timing systems, M-division engines). We provide full written guidance at collection.
Are oil changes required during the warranty period?+
Yes — the warranty requires the first oil change at 400–600 miles, and a second at 900–1,100 miles, then servicing at BMW intervals. This ensures the rebuild beds in correctly.
Does the warranty transfer to a new owner if I sell the car?+
The warranty is non-transferable — it applies to the original vehicle and the customer who commissioned the rebuild.
How long does a rebuild take?+
Typically 3-5 working days after inspection. Complex M-division or V-engine rebuilds may take longer — we will confirm the timeline when you book.
Do you offer a warranty on replacement engines too?+
Yes — our replacement engines also carry a 12-month unlimited-mileage warranty, subject to the same terms (running-in, service schedule, exclusions).
